This tea was a complete accident.

In order to keep myself sharp with tea and flavour combinations, I will occasionally add new random things into the supply orders. It allows me to learn new tastes, and to experiment with new ingredients to turn into teas or coffees or cocoas.

Genmaicha was new to me, and I was a bit skeptical of the idea of rice in tea. First cup was astonishingly good, though my immediate thought was ""If I put the right spices in this it would taste kind of like green tea rice pudding.""

As rice pudding is one of my happy childhood memories, I decided I had to try it and see how it turned out. It made me giddy.

Many years after this tea was originally created, I started trying to offer decaffeinated versions of every tea that I could manage. In this particular case, that meant making my own decaffeinated organic Genmaicha. This project became "Missing Piece," which will eventually be available on its own.
